The Learnbase Video Lesson Maker (VLM) is now available for community beta testing!

The VLM is two things – a beautiful and effective way to deliver deep video-led lessons, and an authorable studio for learning designers to get creative with.

What it is, what it isn’t

It is definitely no Rise or Storyline – but that is exactly the point (not to mention the price point!)

It’s designed to fill a learning gap that those Articulate tools are really bad at – transformational learning not just transactional. Where Storyline evolved out of a Powerpoint paradigm and Rise from more of a desktop publishing approach, the VLM is all about the V – video and grew out of client requirements for lessons that give learners more chance to stop and think.

So what do we mean be ‘video-led’ lessons?

This approach uses the video as both the subject matter content AND the teachers ‘voice’, guiding the user through the lesson flow which can pause along the way for the users to answer questions, but more importantly to breathe and think.  It’s surprisingly effective.

So when we have to make a course designed for compliance contexts, a direct transactional walkthrough of what the learners need to know, we use Storyline. But where we want to really involve the learners and get them to think through a lesson, we use our Video Lesson Maker.

Over to you now

We’ve been using the Video Lesson Maker for a couple of years now with our closest clients – government, health authorities, businesses, solopreneurs – so it has been well tested and developed within the contexts we use, and used by thousands of learners with great results. But this is the first time that we are sending our baby out into the world to see how you like it, how you use it, what you love, what you don’t, and how we can make it better.

While we have tried to make it as intuitive as possible – it does take a little learnin’, so please do spend the time to follow the training video we have provided in our knowledge section and we’ll stay tuned for our webinars where we can dig a little deeper.

So click here to find out more about the Learnbase Video Lesson Maker, and sign up for the Beta testing. We can’t wait to get your feedback, and we’ll be with you every step of the way.

Thank you!
